Front-end Engineer III, Professional Services
Who are we looking for?
As a Front-end Engineer, you are an expert, implementing Khoros front-end customizations for our customers and helping guide your less-experienced teammates in their efforts to provide the same. To fulfill these responsibilities, you have extensive professional experience developing front-end web solutions. You lead by example, modeling the behavior of a seasoned and successful engineer for your peers. You are also an excellent collaborator, working with our Project Managers, Technical Leads, and fellow Engineers on the requirements and design for the solutions you create. At the same time, you can work independently and efficiently, because you’re organized, task-focused and self-responsible.
Responsibilities:
Bringing UX designs to life for Khoros’ products using semantic, accessible mark-up and styling.
Implementing, testing, documenting, deploying, and supporting custom features to Khoros' products, focusing on the interactive/user interface aspects of the solution.
Managing and accounting for your own time and activities; developing your technical and professional skills within the department; setting a positive example for teammates.
Collaborating with and helping colleagues solve technical problems.
Contributing to operational and process improvements.
Due to the nature of our customer-centric team, participation in occasional off-hours deployments and/or occasional rotation in on-call outage assistance may be required.
Qualifications:
5+ years of professional web development experience.
Strong foundation in semantic and accessible mark-up (HTML5/ARIA), modern CSS and layout techniques (CSS3/Flexbox/Grid), CSS preprocessors (Sass, PostCSS).
An incredible eye for detail and an obsession for pixel perfection, along with the creative and critical thinking mindset to effectively combine aesthetics and usability.
Strong foundation in front-end web programming technologies (e.g.: JavaScript, jQuery, XML, JSON).
Strong experience with React and Next.js, or similar JavaScript UI libraries.
Experience with Handlebars.js or similar JavaScript template libraries.
Experience collaborating with other engineers through Git and pull requests.
Experience executing peer code reviews.
Strong command of the English language (written, spoken, colloquial); additional languages a plus.
Ability to apply critical thinking to customer and team objectives in order to understand requirements, goals, and issues and formulate possible solutions.
Comfortable breaking down large problems and concepts into achievable segments; talent for troubleshooting
Eager and able to learn independently while also recognizing when to seek help.
Strong time management skills when serving multiple customers with competing priorities.
Preferred
Experience working in a Professional Services team, or similar customer-centric role.
Working knowledge of server-side javascript frameworks like Node.js
Experience with a server-side templating framework (e.g.: Freemarker, Velocity).
Familiarity with UNIX command-line tools and scripting.
Familiarity with test-driven development and unit testing; Jest or similar JavaScript testing framework
Experience working with Atlassian suite of tools including Jira and Confluence.
