Job Description
We are seeking a talented Full Stack Developer to join our team and lead the modernization, integration, and optimization of complex software systems used in industrial data acquisition, device management, and real-time analytics. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both front-end and back-end development, with experience in migrating legacy applications, building robust data pipelines, and creating intuitive user interfaces for technical users.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Legacy System Migration: Rewrite and modernize existing Windows applications from obsolete platforms (C++ / Borland Builder, older Visual Studio C#/WinForms) to contemporary frameworks (preferably latest Visual Studio C#/.NET), ensuring maintainability and scalability. Manage compatibility across Microsoft Windows versions.
UI/UX Development: Design and implement interactive, customizable user interfaces for real-time data visualization and device management, using advanced graphics libraries and toolkits.
Data Integration & Communication: Develop and maintain communication stacks (Ethernet, serial, etc.) for real-time data exchange between software and hardware devices.
Database Design & Management: Architect and implement databases to manage complex data dictionaries, device inventories, and historical records.
Mapping & Visualization: Integrate mapping APIs (such as Azure Maps, ESRI / ArcGIS, Google Maps, or OpenStreet) for real-time geospatial visualization and tracking.
Installer & Deployment Automation: Streamline installation and update processes, including intelligent installer creation and migration of user settings.
Performance Optimization: Refactor and optimize data parsing, storage, and retrieval mechanisms to support high-frequency, high-volume data streams.
Cloud Integration: Enable cloud-based data retrieval and storage, supporting hybrid desktop/web workflows.
Documentation & Collaboration: Document system architecture, workflows, and codebase for knowledge transfer and team collaboration.
Web Development familiarity: Frontend and Backend support for cloud-based and customer/company-hosted backend servers.
Working Conditions:
Sit or stand at a desk in an office, and/or in an electronics laboratory environment.
Occasional light manufacturing environment with exposure to mechanical or electrical work.
Be in a heavy manufacturing or railroad shop environment requiring additional PPE including safety shoes, safety glasses, ear protection and/or a hard hat.
Physical effort/lifting, such as sedentary/light - up to 20 pounds (95%); medium - up to 50 pounds (5%).
Some overnight travel required to visit customers, conferences, seminars, and Bohr headquarters office.
This position will be within a company office, with some hybrid availability.
Required Skills & Experience
Proficiency in C#, .NET, and Visual Studio (or equivalent modern development environments).
Proficiency with programming languages and tools necessary for full stack development.
Familiarity with C/C++ for migration of legacy applications.
Strong front-end development skills with experience in advanced UI frameworks and graphics toolkits (e.g. DevExpress).
Experience with databases (SQLExpress / SQL Server, MariaDB, SQLite) and data modeling.
Solid understanding of networking protocols and real-time data communication.
Ability to analyze, refactor, and optimize legacy codebases.
Familiarity with mapping APIs and geospatial data integration.
Experience with installer creation and deployment automation.
Knowledge of Linux architecture, threading, and containerization (Docker) is a plus.
Familiarity with network security / IT management is a plus.
Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
5+ years’ experience full stack development.
Well organized, goal-oriented, and capable of functioning with minimal supervision and with small multi-disciplinary teams.
Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Experience in industrial automation, data acquisition, or hardware/software integration.
Background in high-performance data storage/manipulation and real-time systems.
Familiarity with and ability to comprehend technical standards for data dictionaries, communications protocols and device management.
