We are a Bay Area (California)-based security data platform that enables teams to be more effective by building the infrastructure modern security teams need to most effectively use their security data. Through its AI-enabled “Security Engineer” (SE), the company is able to reduce analyst workloads by providing context to understand the nuance in disparate data sets. This helps companies’ security analysts spend more time on what matters, remediating issues, by overcoming time-consuming data preparation tasks and compute-intensive queries. About Role
We are looking for a key contributor to our streaming data platform. Our ideal candidate lives for writing Python and GoLang code, dreams of transforming JSON and other structured data formats, loves learning new technologies for solving complex system and data integration problems, and obsesses over the performance profile of their code.
Responsibilities:
• Collaborate closely with the founding team to deliver a high-impact product.
• Design, implement, test, debug, optimize, and evolve our data integration framework.
• Work within the Threat Research Organization, working closely with threat researchers to ensure the team can detect, respond
• Run and optimize services (including on-call; we believe that our engineers build services, not software).
Environment & Tech:
• Modern, distributed microservices architecture
• Hybrid architecture—shared SaaS with “heavy data lifting” in customer-owned cloud accounts
• Backend code in Python, Go, and Java
• Stack runs in k8s on all cloud providers and on-prem.
• A variety of open-source databases (traditional and distributed)
Our ideal candidate:
• Writes scalable, high-quality, high-performance software in Python.
• Has wrangled data integrations and data mappings with REST APIs, streaming data sources (e.g., Kafka), and cloud data sources (e.g., AWS S3, GCP GCS, Azure Storage, etc.).
• Has 4-6 years of experience writing Python code to retrieve, parse, and transform data, and/or GoLang code to process data.
• Discovers and learns technologies that make our platform better.
• Moves autonomously and finds the right tradeoff between quality and pragmatism.
• Pride themselves on their code quality, testing, and documentation.
• Has a high degree of ownership in their work and wants to work and live in a startup environment versus a corporate environment with established boundaries.
• Holds a bachelor's or master’s degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field.
