Job Description
Business Partnership Proposal
Electrical Contractor (ECL Holder) – Solar Energy Installation
Company
Date: February 2, 2026
Executive Summary
We are seeking a qualified Electrical Contractor Licence (ECL) holder to join our established and growing
solar energy installation business as an equity partner. This opportunity is specifically structured for an ECL
holder who wants ownership-level income without the burden of day-to-day site work, staffing, or operational
management.
By holding an ECL in the company’s name (or obtaining one), the incoming partner enables access to
Australia’s Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES), including Small-scale Technology Certificates
(STCs), and allows us to operate more efficiently with in-house finance options and streamlined compliance.
Why This Opportunity Suits an ECL Holder
This role is designed for an experienced electrician or electrical contractor who prefers oversight and
compliance rather than physical installation work.
No on-site labour required — all installations are completed by licensed subcontractors.
Work-from-home role focused on compliance review and approvals.
Minimal weekly time commitment once familiar with the process.
Equity ownership provides ongoing profit share, not just wages.
Business Model Overview
Sales & Growth: Dedicated sales representatives generate consistent deal flow, typically achieving 3–5
system sales per representative per week.
Installation: All installation and electrical works are completed by vetted subcontractors who hold their own
licences, insurance, and accreditation. They complete all on-site work and compliance documentation.
ECL Partner Role: The ECL holder provides company-level licensing and performs high-level oversight by
reviewing completed job documentation (compliance certificates, EWRs, connection paperwork) before final
job close-off. Training typically takes 1–2 days.
Compliance, Liability & Risk Management
Risk exposure for the ECL holder is intentionally minimised through the use of licensed subcontractors who
remain responsible for workmanship, installation quality, and rectification obligations.
Subcontractors lodge and sign all Electrical Work Requests (EWRs) and compliance certificates.
Subcontractors carry their own public liability and professional insurance.• The company coordinates any remedial works through the original installer if required.
The ECL holder is not required to attend sites or manage installers directly.
Financial & Commercial Benefits
20% equity ownership in the business.
Profit distributions proportional to ownership after expenses.
Access to STCs enables competitive pricing and strong cash flow.
Ability to offer customer finance with payout on job completion.
Ownership & Governance
The proposed ownership structure ensures alignment and shared commitment between all partners:
40% – Founder 1
40% – Founder 2
20% – Electrical Contractor (ECL Holder)
A formal shareholders’ agreement will define roles, voting rights, profit distribution, cost sharing, and exit
provisions to protect all parties.
Next Steps
We welcome a confidential discussion with suitably qualified ECL holders to review financials, operational
processes, and the pathway to licensing the company. This opportunity is ideal for an electrician seeking
scalable, hands-off ownership in a growing renewable energy business.
