Job Description
Inclusion Canada is currently recruiting for a Fund Development Intern – Summer Student Position. This is an excellent opportunity to work for a national organizational leading a social change movement, using stories, fundraising, and research skills to change lives and defend rights. Working closely with senior staff, the Fund Development Intern will assist in the development and data gathering for grant proposals, fundraising campaigns, and cultivation events. Funding provided through the Federal Canada Summer Jobs Program and Inclusion Canada – position is approximately 12 weeks at $18/hr.
Inclusion Canada has a distributed team and remote work is possible within Canada. However, preference will be given to candidates within the Atlantic, Eastern, and Central time zones.
Responsibilities:
· Assist in the development of a robust and up-to-date list of grants, foundations and corporate partnerships that align with Inclusion Canada’s strategic priorities
· Assist in soliciting and securing corporate partnerships
· Provide support in data gathering for proposal writing and submission
· Develop briefing materials, cases for support, and fundraising campaign materials, among other supporting documents
· Develop content for direct mail campaigns to solicit donations and update supporters of Inclusion Canada on the activities of the organization
· Develop content and stories to support digital communications
· Assist in planning and coordinating of logistics for the annual fundraising event (i.e., content creation, development of sponsorship packages)
· Assist the Fund Development Committee with solicitating and securing hosts for virtual information sessions/events that share the mission of Inclusion Canada and introduce the public to the work of the organization
Competencies:
· A passion for social justice and equity issues, including but not limited to disability inclusion
· Strong writing and editing skills and demonstrated ability to influence and develop accurate and persuasive content for various audiences
· Strong understanding of social media platforms and effective utilization to connect with a target audience
· Research skills and the ability to scan multiple sources of information (e.g., websites, databases, etc.)
· Attention to detail, strong follow-through, and the ability to remain organized and responsive to multiple priorities and deadlines
· Strong interpersonal skills including a professional manner and good judgment
· Works well independently, including remote work
· Knowledge of the social justice sector, and particularly the disability sector, considered an asset
Preference will be given post-secondary students enrolled in a discipline relevant to fundraising, marketing, public relations, or a related field
All candidates must:
Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment
· Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or have refugee protection under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
· Be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
Note: As this position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs program, international students are not eligible.
