Responsibilities and Expectations The Associate Vice President (AVP) of Major Donor Relations, will be an integral part of our fundraising team, responsible for cultivating and stewarding relationships with major donors who have a deep connection to IIT Kanpur. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Development, he/she will lead efforts to engage alumni and other key stakeholders to advance the foundation's mission
. Key Responsibilities: •
Develop and execute a comprehensive major donor strategy aligned with the foundation's fundraising goals and priorities.
Identify, cultivate, and solicit major donors, including alumni, corporate partners, and philanthropic individuals, leveraging personal relationships and strategic outreach efforts. •
Create personalized cultivation plans for each major donor, ensuring meaningful engagement and stewardship opportunities that strengthen their connection to IIT Kanpur
Collaborate with the development team to design compelling fundraising initiatives, events, and campaigns tailored to major donors, highlighting the impact of their contributions.
Serve as the primary liaison between major donors and IIT Kanpur, facilitating communication, recognition, and involvement in key institutional initiatives and programs. • Provide strategic guidance and support to senior leadership, board members, and volunteers involved in major donor cultivation and solicitation efforts
. • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of donor interactions, gift commitments, and prospect research in the foundation's donor database. •
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of major donor strategies and activities, adjusting tactics as needed to optimize fundraising outcomes.
Desired Profile - Bachelor's degree required; master’s degree in Social Service or a relevant field preferred.
- Minimum of 10-12 years of experience in fundraising, donor relations, or related fields, with a -proven track record of securing major gifts and meeting fundraising targets. - Demonstrated success in building and maintaining relationships with high-net-worth individuals, alumni, and corporate partners. -
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire donors through compelling storytelling and presentations. -
Strong strategic thinking and analytical abilities, with a keen understanding of fundraising best practices and industry trends. -
Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively
