Furniture Designer – Chafa Home
Location: Aundh, Pune (On-Site)
Job Type: Full-time
Experience: Minimum 2+ years (Required)
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Furniture Design, Interior Design, Product Design, or a related field (Mandatory)
Chafa Home is a premium interior and furniture design firm specializing in high-end residential and commercial spaces. We seamlessly blend sophisticated aesthetics with functionality, designing elegant, timeless furniture pieces that reflect superior craftsmanship and thoughtful design.
We are looking for a Furniture Designer with a strong design and technical background, along with experience in purchasing, sourcing, and workshop management. This role requires someone who is highly creative, detail-oriented, and capable of managing end-to-end furniture production—from conceptualization and sourcing to quality control and execution.
Key Responsibilities
1. Furniture Design & Development
• Conceptualize and design custom furniture for residential and commercial projects.
• Create detailed sketches, CAD drawings, and 3D models to visualize designs.
• Ensure all furniture designs are both aesthetically appealing and functionally practical.
2. Material Sourcing & Procurement
• Identify and source materials, hardware, and finishes from reliable vendors.
• Negotiate with suppliers and manufacturers to maintain cost efficiency and quality.
• Maintain inventory of materials and components for smooth production flow.
3. Technical Drawings & Prototyping
• Prepare detailed technical drawings for manufacturing, including joinery details, dimensions, and specifications.
• Work closely with carpenters, metal fabricators, and upholsterers to develop prototypes.
• Ensure designs align with structural integrity, ergonomics, and durability standards.
4. Workshop Management & Production Oversight
• Oversee daily operations in the workshop, ensuring production timelines are met.
• Coordinate with the production team to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
• Conduct quality checks to ensure furniture pieces meet design specifications and high standards.
• Troubleshoot design or production-related issues and implement timely solutions.
5. Site Visits & Execution
• Conduct regular workshop and site visits to supervise furniture installation.
• Ensure design accuracy and finishing quality at client sites.
• Coordinate with interior designers and contractors for seamless project execution.
6. Market Research & Innovation
• Stay updated on new materials, trends, and sustainable solutions in furniture design.
• Explore and implement cost-effective and innovative production techniques.
Skills & Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Furniture Design, Product Design, Interior Design, or a related field (Mandatory).
• Minimum 2+ years of experience in furniture design, sourcing, and production management (Required).
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Rhino, SolidWorks, or other 3D modeling software.
• Strong understanding of woodworking, metalwork, upholstery, and material properties.
• Experience in purchasing, vendor negotiations, and inventory management.
• Hands-on knowledge of furniture joinery, construction techniques, and finishes.
• Ability to manage workshops, production teams, and multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot manufacturing and supply chain challenges.
• Excellent communication skills for vendor coordination and client interaction.
• Preferred: Own a two-wheeler for site and workshop visits.
