Mitre 10 MEGA New Lynn is a proud part of the local West Auckland community. Known for our friendly service and expert advice, we help customers transform their outdoor spaces—whether it’s a small herb patch or a full backyard renovation.
Our Gardens department is one of our busiest areas, and we’re looking for someone who knows their camellias from their chrysanthemums and can recommend the right lawn feed with confidence. If you enjoy being outdoors and take pride in your plant knowledge, we’d love to have you on board.
About the Role
This is a full-time role in our Outdoor Gardens team, working with live plants, potting mix, compost, fertilisers, and landscaping products.
Sunday to Thursday, 10:30 am – 7:00 pm
Based at our West Auckland store – local applicants only encouraged to apply
Hands-on role with a mix of customer service and physical work
What You’ll Bring
Proven experience or formal training in horticulture, garden retail, or landscaping essential
Strong product knowledge of live plants, soils, fertilisers, or pest control required
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Physical fitness—you’ll be lifting and shifting garden supplies daily
Reliability and commitment to late shifts, including Sundays
A positive attitude and team-focused approach
Living locally is a bonus for roster reliability
Your Day-to-Day
Assisting customers with plant selection, gardening advice, and product recommendations
Maintaining healthy plant stock and tidy displays
Unloading and stocking outdoor garden supplies
Helping across other garden-related areas (e.g., irrigation, landscaping)
Supporting the team to deliver excellent service and hit department goals
