GENERAL ACCOUNTANT
Cajun Industries is currently seeking a skilled and detail-oriented General Accountant to join our dynamic team in the construction industry. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring accurate record-keeping, assisting in financial transactions, and supporting the overall financial health of our construction projects. The position requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced construction environment.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain detailed and organized accounting records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards
Record and reconcile construction billings on a daily basis
Record cash receipts to outstanding invoices on a daily basis
Resolve billing and cash receipt issues and questions
Monitor and provide status updates to management on receivables that have been outstanding for unusually long periods of time
Support the Controllers with reporting and analysis of monthly results
Assists in reconciling accounts; communicate any problems or discrepancies to the Controllers for guidance toward resolution of the problem
Manage vendor credit application requests for Operations
Perform special projects for the department, as needed
Prepare mailings and priority shipments for the Accounting Department
Prepare labels and maintain files as needed within the department
Maintain financial security and integrity by adhering to internal accounting controls and confidentiality
Perform such other accounting, financial, or administrative tasks as may be required from time to time –often on short notice - by the CFO and Controller
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Degree(s) must be from a credible college or university
Proven experience as an accountant in the construction industry
Knowledge of accounting principles and the application of accounting principles
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
Excellent verbal and written skills and a willingness to work closely with Operations and others in the Accounting department
Basic mathematic skills and the ability to analyze data
Ability to multi-task, establish priorities and organize efficiently
Strong computer skills, with a proficiency in Microsoft Excel and a familiarity with accounting software
