About the Role
This role is vital to the maintenance and upkeep of departmental schools.
To be successful in the role you will need to have good planning and prioritising skills and good communication skills to work effectively with others.
You will perform a range of tasks relating to the routine maintenance and upkeep of a Departmental School/grounds. The role may assist with the set up and removal of furniture and equipment for school activities. You will identify and report maintenance and safety issues. You will receive, store and distribute supplies and monitor equipment and report faults.

The General Assistant works alongside the site manager to maintain the school grounds and buildings including garden maintenance and small repairs to facilities. The General Assistant may also coordinate external contractors coming into the school to complete facilities works. Sturt Public School is located in the large regional city of Wagga Wagga on Wiradjuri country. It has a student enrolment of 320. Students come from a wide range of socio-economic backgrounds, with 16% of students identifying as First Nations and 16% from an English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D). There is an 5/6 Opportunity Class that caters for high potential and gifted Year 5 and Year 6 students and two support classes.
