Job Description
Overview: Reporting directly to the President, the General Counsel is the principal legal officer for the University, with overall responsibility for the vision and leadership of the University’s legal strategy. A valued member of the leadership team and Cabinet, the General Counsel provides advice and counsel on all significant legal matters and serves as a strategic thought partner on key issues impacting the University. The General Counsel is also responsible for leading and managing Lehigh’s Office of the General Counsel and the Office of Risk Management and providing advice and counsel to the University’s Board of Trustees.
Experience: The successful candidate will be a collaborative and strategic leader with at least 15 years of relevant legal experience in roles of increasing scope and responsibility. The ideal candidate will have proven experience leading teams and advising senior executives and boards. Candidates with experience handling the legal issues facing universities with significant research activity and Division I athletics programs are highly desired.

Location/Relocation: Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. A relocation package will be provided as needed.
In-Office Attendance: This is an in-office role. Remote candidates will not be considered.
Bar Admission: Membership in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction with the ability to obtain a Pennsylvania Limited In-House Counsel License.
