Primary objective
The General Manager, Corporate Strategy and Performance, provides high-level strategic leadership for the NT Health’s corporate
strategy and planning; intergovernmental relations; funding and performance; evaluation and reporting analytics and insights
functions to ensure the strategic direction reflects the Northern Territory and Federal Governments’ priorities for Health.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Lead and manage the Strategy and Performance team in the provision of research, analysis and advice on funding and health
performance, corporate strategy, evaluation and intergovernmental issues that affect NT Health, building high performing
teams to produce the required outputs and effective outcomes.
2. Oversee the development, monitoring and reporting of NT Health’s corporate strategy (including strategic and business
planning frameworks).
3. Lead and oversee the development, monitoring and reporting of the NTRHS Service Plan and the associated Performance
Framework, providing strategic and expert advice in the areas of performance diagnostics, activity-based funding and remedy
of performance issues.
4. Ensure the delivery of a NT Health data governance strategy, governance and analytics framework and oversee executive
reporting against appropriate organisational performance indicators that drive improved service delivery and fiscal
performance and provide insights to inform decision-making, business modelling, forecasting and identification of risk.
5. Lead advocacy and agency wide coordination of inter-governmental relations activities, including negotiations with the Federal
government to influence outcomes, and the development of the Territory’s views on national policy and initiatives that
enhance health service outcomes for Territorians.
6. Build a positive and collaborative working relationship across NT Health and more broadly across other Territory Government
agencies to ensure alignment to NT Health and cross-government initiatives and programs.
7. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken
in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
8. Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role modelling behaviour.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Proven experience in the areas of the position’s key duties responsibilities, and proven success in driving strategic reform and
improvement initiatives within a complex service delivery environment.
2. Sound knowledge of key strategic priorities for healthcare in the Northern Territory and nationally, including funding models.
3. Exceptional written and oral communication skills, with a proven ability to communicate with influence.
4. Demonstrated ability to cultivate productive working relationships, lead and grow team capability and build a positive and
responsive organisational culture.
5. Strong problem solving and planning skills and the ability to manage work and resources across diverse functions.
6. Demonstrated capacity to cope with significant workload, meet critical deadlines and achieve outcomes.
7. High level of self-awareness, resilience, personal drive and professionalism.
8. Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultures.
Desirable
1. Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline.
