About the Role (your why)
The General Manager – Operations leads strategy development and execution for Managed Operations. You will oversee daily business activities within the functional area, work closely with Sales, Presales and Technical teams to improve the go-to-market approach, and manage relationships with external agencies and suppliers to ensure contracts and service levels meet strategic aims and financial constraints.

You’ll make final decisions on administrative or operational matters, drive budgets and schedules, and guide teams to deliver strong customer outcomes while continuously improving processes and maintaining high standards of security and health and safety

What you’ll do
At the moment, as General Manager – Operations you will be focused on:

Owning the development and implementation of strategy for Managed Operations, in line with broader Datacom strategy.
Collaborating with other senior managers to establish strategic plans and objectives.
Supporting Sales, Presales and Technical teams across Datacom ensuring an aligned go-to-market approach focused on growth and mutual benefit between Datacom and our customers
Manage the relationships with (and between) external agencies and suppliers, ensuring contracts and service levels are negotiated in line with strategic aims and financial constraints and ongoing service is in-line with agreed contracts.
Making final decisions on administrative or operational matters, ensuring effective achievement of operational objectives.
Ensuring budgets and schedules meet requirements.
Interactions frequently involve special skills, such as negotiating with customers or management or attempting to influence senior level leaders regarding matters of significance to the business.
Planning, personnel, budgeting, managing expense priorities, and recommending and implementing changes to methods.
Involved in development of methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for projects, programs, and strategy.
Directing and controlling the activities of own area of business, sometimes through managers within the team.
Maintain a strong customer focus and demand the highest standard in customer deliverables, including improvement in operational efficiencies, promoting a strict adherence to established policies and processes, and a commitment to reviewing and resolving processes regularly.

What you’ll bring

Required experience:

6+ years of experience in a bid, solutions or proposal management function within a technical services environment.
Understanding of end-to-end sales-to-delivery cycle within a professional services and managed services business.
Project or service delivery management experience. Previous experience in a bid, solutions or proposal management function.
Extensive experience with the end-to-end sales-to-delivery lifecycle
Solid financial management practices with a clear understanding of the relationship between costs, utilisation, revenue and profitability.
Proven ability to lead collaborative, cross-functional teams to achieve organisational goals
Excellent stakeholder engagement, influencing and negotiation skills
Strong analytical, consultative and problem-solving skills
Nice to have:

Experience working within a Tier 2 Service Provider environment
Strong understanding of IT Outsourcing services and service delivery models
Exposure to proposal automation tools.
Experience in delivering multi-line and complex transformation-based projects for a Managed Service Provider.
