Job Description
Infodriver Capital LLC, Series 1 - Robotics & Wearable Device Venture Fund
About Infodriver Capital
Infodriver Capital is a new $10 million seed-stage venture fund based in San Francisco, focusing exclusively on the next generation of robotics and wearable technology companies across North America. We believe hardware is undergoing a renaissance—where software-defined functionality, AI integration, and novel manufacturing approaches are creating defensible, scalable businesses. Our founder's track record speaks for itself: taking 6 hardware companies from prototype to mass production with a 3.2x average markup on invested capital. We don't just write checks; we serve as hands-on co-pilots through the treacherous "hardware valley of death."
The Role: Founding General Partner
We are seeking a Founding General Partner to join our founder in building Infodriver Capital from the ground up. This is not a traditional GP role—it's a founder-level position with significant equity, shared decision-making authority, and the opportunity to shape both the fund's legacy and the future of physical computing. You will be the yin to our founder's yang—bringing complementary superpowers that will make our fund irresistible to both elite founders and sophisticated LPs.
What You'll Do
Investment Leadership (40%)
· Co-develop and execute our investment thesis in robotics and wearables, with initial focus areas in: industrial/enterprise automation, healthcare/medical devices, human augmentation, and smart consumer wearables
· Lead sourcing and evaluation of 300+ deals annually, developing proprietary deal flow through your unique network
· Conduct technical and commercial due diligence with a focus on manufacturing feasibility, supply chain resilience, and unit economics
· Negotiate terms and lead investments ($250K-$750K initial checks) in 4-6 companies per year
Portfolio Acceleration (30%)
· Serve as a board member/observer for portfolio companies, providing hands-on guidance through critical hardware milestones
· Leverage our founder's "prototype-to-production" playbook to help portfolio companies avoid common pitfalls
· Build and manage our platform function (initially hands-on) to support portfolio companies with talent, manufacturing partnerships, and pilot deployments
· Create tangible value between investment rounds to ensure follow-on success
Fund Strategy & Operations (20%)
· Co-lead LP fundraising efforts, articulating our differentiated value proposition to institutional and strategic investors
· Help build fund operations, including deal tracking systems, reporting processes, and portfolio monitoring
· Contribute to the firm's brand as a thought leader through content, speaking engagements, and ecosystem development
Team & Culture Building (10%)
· Help hire and mentor our first investment associate as the fund scales
· Establish the cultural foundation of the partnership—how we debate, decide, and support one another
What You Bring
Non-Negotiable Requirements
· 7-15 years of combined experience in venture capital, startup operating roles (preferably in robotics/hardware), or technical roles at leading hardware companies
· Demonstrated expertise in ONE of these areas that complements our founder's manufacturing mastery:
· Commercial/Go-to-Market: Proven ability to scale hardware sales through enterprise/channel partnerships OR direct-to-consumer growth
· Technical Architecture: Deep background in embedded systems, robotics software stacks, or sensor fusion with the ability to assess technical risk
· Corporate Development: Experience in strategic partnerships, M&A, or corporate venture at a major tech/industrial corporation
· Existing network in the North American robotics/wearables ecosystem (founders, researchers, executives)
· Personal track record of investments or projects with measurable outcomes (revenue growth, successful exits, or patents filed)
Ideal Mindset & Attributes
· Builder mentality – you thrive in 0→1 environments and are comfortable with ambiguity
· Pattern recognition – you can spot technical feasibility and market timing simultaneously
· Hands-on pragmatism – you roll up your sleeves and help with actual problems, not just strategy
· High conviction, low ego – strong opinions weakly held, with intellectual honesty in decision-making
· LP-facing polish – ability to articulate complex hardware concepts to financial investors
What Makes This Role Unique
Complementary Partnership: Our founder brings the "how to build it" expertise; we need you to bring either the "who will buy it," "how it works," or "who will acquire it" expertise.
Real Skin in the Game: Significant carried interest and fund equity from Day 1. This is a true partnership, not an employee role.
First Mover Advantage: Robotics and wearables are at an inflection point—we're building the specialized fund the ecosystem needs now.
Platform for Influence: You'll help shape not just a portfolio, but an entire category of technology.
Compensation & Structure
· Competitive base salary (Range based on experience)
· Meaningful fund-level equity and carried interest (typically 20-30% of GP economics for founding partner)
· Flexible work structure with San Francisco Bay Area presence required 3-4 days/week
How to Apply
Please send the following to [email protected]
1. Your resume/LinkedIn profile
2. A brief note (≤500 words) answering: "What is one non-obvious opportunity in robotics or wearables today, and what would make you the ideal person to find/bet on it?"
