Downer’s South Division delivers high-quality civil infrastructure projects across New Zealand, and we’re looking for a General Hand to join our Dannevirke team.
This is a great entry point into civil construction, where you’ll support a range of roading and infrastructure works including site setup, machinery support, and general labouring.
Your work will include:
Assisting with safe site setup and traffic management
Manual tasks such as digging, vegetation control, painting, and water blasting
Supporting machine operators and crews on civil works
Helping ensure materials and equipment are used efficiently on site
You’ll be part of a team delivering essential infrastructure that keeps communities moving.

Class 1 Full Licence + WTR endorsement (desirable)
Physically fit and ready for hands-on work
Team player with a strong work ethic and positive attitude
Able to work away from home and flexible with shifts/call-outs
Willingness to learn and develop in the civil industry
