Rapid Geo Pty Ltd also operates a NATA-accredited Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Laboratory in Smeaton Grange, NSW, supporting a wide range of geotechnical projects.
Geotechnical Engineer, Full Time, Sydney, NSW
Rapid Geo is currently looking for a full time Geotechnical Engineer. Seeking someone who isa high-achieving results driven Engineer.
About the Role:
Reporting to the Geotechnical Team Leader, you will work as part of a small, close-knit team, undertaking a combination of office and field-based work. Your responsibilities will include project management, conducting geotechnical investigations, and preparing detailed interpretive reports. The role also requires you to be involved with liaison and coordination with our NATA-accredited Construction Materials Testing Laboratory, ensuring strong integration between field observations, laboratory results, and reporting outcomes.
You will have autonomy as we will be looking to you to help the team with site inspections/testing/monitor services for construction sites for a range of earthworks, pavements, excavation, road and rail projects.

The Candidate:
To be considered for this role, the successful candidate will have:
A tertiary qualification in Geotechnical Engineering or Civil Engineering.
At least 2+ year of geotechnical consulting experience in Sydney / Australia.
A successful track record in project managing and undertaking geotechnical investigations for small to large scale geotechnical projects.
Experience in producing fee proposals for various project types and sizes.
Experience in projects where tests on construction materials such as soil and aggregates are undertaken in according to Australian Standards (AS), Road and Maritime Services (RMS) and Transport for New South Whales (TfNSW) standards.
Support the Geotechnical Team Leader in liaising with Rapid Geo Laboratory Manager/Project Managers from our Construction Materials Testing (CMT) – NATA accredited, to ensure laboratory and field to communicate test results and support project delivery.
Determining construction methods, materials and quality standards, and drafting and interpreting specifications, drawings, plans, construction methods and procedures.
Studying architectural and engineering drawings and specifications to estimate total costs, and preparing detailed cost plans and estimates as tools to assist in budgetary control.
Demonstrable experience in the preparation of geotechnical interpretative report.
Monitoring changes to designs, assessing effects on cost, and measuring, valuing and negotiating variations to designs.
Designing structures to ensure they do not collapse, bend, twist or vibrate in undesirable ways.
Knowledge of current guidelines, technical standards, legislation and codes of practice relevant to Geotechnical Engineering in Australia.
Knowledge of relevant Australian Standards - AS (e.g., at least Compaction Testing and CBR standards).
Ability to maintain strong relationships with existing clients as well as create leads to help build professional relationships with new clients.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
A strong work ethic and the ability to work cohesively within a team driven environment.

High commitment to safety & detailed orientated.
General Induction Card (White Card).
A current valid full Australian driver’s licence Class C (manual would be highly regarded).
