About the role:
Reporting to the Manager Data Strategy, Data Management Transformation, the GIS Engineer is a senior member of a team responsible for priority enhancements and improvements to data platform at EPA. You will develop and oversee the delivery of comprehensive development and support activities for EPA ‘s ArcGIS system, aligned to EPA’s strategic priorities, to prevent harm to Victorian communities and the environment from pollution and waste. This is a senior role for an experienced GIS Engineer that wants to contribute to the success of the EPA as it enters a new era of environmental protection in Victoria. Working closely with the Manager Data Strategy, Data Management Transformation, you will actively contribute to a positive organisational culture and achieve the highest standards of performance and integrity, fostering genuine partnerships across all levels of government, industry, and community to support the delivery organisational outcomes.
In this role you will:
Work with business to identify enterprise location service's needs; plan, design, build, and deliver solutions to location services needs on the EPA’s ArcGIS and Data Engineering platforms.
Collaborate with external agencies and vendors to plan, design, build and deliver solutions on regulatory use cases including emergency animal disease etc.
Provide ongoing location services support to organization, including but not limited to defect resolution, backlog management, guidance and training development, system administration.
Support team to assess enhancement requests, understand time and resource costs, tasks and skills required, and project planning.
Support team to plan and execute testing in accordance with corporate practices and standards
Skills and experience:
Hands-on experience working with ESRI’s ARCGIS suite and other geo-spatial technologies along with FME Workbenches for performing ETL on Geo-spatial data.
Hands-on experience using programming language R, including R package and shiny applications is desirable to create interactive web applications.
Hands-on experience in Microsoft Azure cloud environment and associated geodatabase technologies (including SQL etc.) to collect, manage and share GIS data.
Proficiency in Python and Javascript to build and manage spatial data solutions.
Knowledge of DevOps principles and CI/CD pipelines for solution deployments.
