We are seeking a highly motivated and commercially astute Vice President to join our Spread ProducGlobal Investment Research

Global Investment Research delivers client-focused insights across equity, fixed income, currency, and commodities markets. Our Economics team analyzes macroeconomic trends shaping the global economy and partners with investing clients to support superior investment outcomes.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced market economist to join the Australia and New Zealand Economics team. This role offers the opportunity to shape the firm’s macroeconomic views, contribute to global thematic research, and engage directly with clients and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver macroeconomic research and forecasting for the Australia and New Zealand economies and publish research on relevant macroeconomic themes / issues within the broader Asia region.
Monitor and interpret economic data, policy developments, and market trends across Australia and New Zealand – developing forecasts for key macroeconomic variables.
Communicating views on the regional and country economies and markets to external clients and internal stakeholders
Collaborate with Asia and global economics teams on broader thematic analysis and cross-regional research initiatives.
Basic Qualifications

Advanced degree in Economics or a closely related field.
Proven experience in macroeconomic research, preferably with Australia/New Zealand market exposure.
Exceptional analytical and writing skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively across regions.
Preferred Qualifications

Self-starter with a high level of energy and intellectual curiosity.
Ability to adapt quickly to changing market conditions by adjusting research focus appropriately and rapidly incorporating new information
Established network of policy and market contacts.

The successful candidate will be responsible for distribution of secured bonds and loans to institutional investors across a wide range of asset classes in various industries. There will be a particular focus on asset-backed securities (ABS), residential mortgage-backed securities (RMBS), and commercial real estate (CRE loans and securitisations) across Australia and the broader Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. In addition, there will be scope to act in an Origination and Structuring capacity across the Australian NBFI sector.

You will work closely with internal structuring and origination teams, external issuers, and a deep network of institutional investors to deliver innovative and competitive capital solutions.

The Syndicate desk is at the center of the transaction distribution process. The desk intermediates issuers and sales/investors to deliver best in class capital raising solutions during the execution process. Additionally, the desk is responsible for identifying and actioning new distribution ideas for issuers.

In addition to Issuers and Investors, Syndicate professionals must work in close partnership with numerous areas within Citi, including the Origination Team, Analytics, Sales and Trading in the APAC region as well as partners in EMEA and the US. The desk remains constantly in communication with all parties and must exhibit leadership to guide issuers through the marketing, book build, execution and pricing of new issue structured debt.

The Syndicate team benefits from the diverse coverage universe across different asset classes enabling a broad view of the markets and the opportunity to work with corporate CFOs and Treasurers in addition to the largest asset managers, insurance companies, banks and hedge funds around the world.

Citi’s Financing & Securitisation franchise is a recognised industry leader, consistently at the top of league tables across a multitude of asset classes, in a competitive business dominated by large banks across the street.

Key Responsibilities:

End-to-End Bond Syndication: Lead the execution of primary securitisation transactions across RMBS, ABS, CMBS/CRE portfolios, from initial structuring and pricing through to distribution and post-deal support.

Investor Distribution: Manage and grow relationships with key domestic and international fixed income investors, with an emphasis on real money accounts, banks, and asset managers active in securitised credit across the APAC region.

CRE & Other Loan Syndication: Support the placement of loans or other private financings primarily related to CRE-backed credit but also including other asset-backed exposure across the APAC region.

Market Intelligence: Provide insights on investor sentiment, pricing trends, and comparative deal analysis to inform structuring and execution strategies.

Internal Collaboration: Partner with origination, structuring, sales, and risk teams to deliver investor-aligned and execution-ready deals.

Client Facing: Deliver high quality coverage and recommendations to borrower clients and drive innovation alongside consistency of service.

Key Skills and Experiences Required:

6+ years of experience in Banking, Capital Markets and/or Sales and Trading

Experience within securitisation markets preferred

Leadership by example

Intellectual curiosity

Articulate in oral and written communication

Confident and comfortable with clients including C-Suite executives

Quick-thinking; able to multi-task

Cooperative; focused in achieving the group and client objectives

Detail oriented

Bachelor’s degree
