Job Description
At Standard Chartered, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced legal professional to join our team as a Legal Counsel, Client Coverage. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in providing strategic legal advice and support to our Client Coverage business in India.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial law, with experience in managing CCIB Business-related legal matters in private practice or in-house. You will be responsible for providing timely and effective legal guidance to stakeholders across the Group on CCIB Business-related legal matters.
You will also work closely with product teams and other stakeholders to structure and define parameters for new products and initiatives, and develop template legal documentation. In addition, you will assist in the review of legal opinions, liaise with colleagues in other legal teams for cross-border transactions, and maintain an appropriate risk-based approach to assessing and evaluating Legal Risk arising in Client Coverage, CCIB, India.
To succeed in this role, you will need to have excellent interpersonal skills, cultural awareness, and sensitivity, as well as a sound understanding of the relevant laws and regulations. You will also be expected to promote a culture and practice of compliance with legal standards, including conducting business within legal and regulatory requirements with high ethical standards.
