Government Relations Strategist
Godrej Enterprises Group, a leading conglomerate with diverse sectors and a presence across India, is seeking an experienced Government Relations Strategist to support the company's fourteen business divisions. This senior management role will be based in Mumbai, requiring the candidate to currently reside in the city.
The successful incumbent will facilitate Godrej & Boyce's interactions with governmental bodies, regulatory agencies, and key stakeholders in India. As a senior advisor to the senior management, this individual will play a crucial role in shaping and advancing the company's public policy agenda. Key responsibilities include facilitating engagement and discussions on key regulatory and policy areas, fostering strong relationships with policymakers and influencers, and representing the company's point of view in matters of consultation with the Government.
This strategic role requires an accomplished leader with at least 20+ years of experience in government relations in India. Previous experience working with government officials and policymakers at various levels is essential, particularly in working with the State Government in Maharashtra. The ideal candidate will possess good knowledge of legislative rules and procedures, legislative processes, politics, and how government makes decisions.
Responsibilities will include developing and implementing comprehensive government affairs strategies that align with the company's business goals and objectives. The Government Relations Strategist will also develop and execute comprehensive advocacy strategies to shape national, state, and local legislative and regulatory activities. Additionally, they will proactively assess the national, state, and local political and public policy environment, determine the impact of legislative and regulatory actions, and effectively socialize recommendations to build strategic buy-in.
The incumbent will also be responsible for identifying and managing potential political and regulatory risks and crisis management. They will drive favourable resolutions in such matters and serve as a thought-leader across the company to ensure effective strategy integration. Furthermore, they will lead and manage engagement with key industry associations and drive action on key issues of importance to Godrej & Boyce.
This role requires an individual with strong executive presence, ability to deal effectively with high-profile stakeholders, and ability to influence and navigate the political landscape. The candidate should possess strong analytical, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to speak and write persuasively, authentically, and with clarity.
