Job Description
The Graduate Administrative Assistant will work closely with the Center’s Director and staff to plan, execute, and document lectures, conferences, workshops, and other public-facing activities that advance the Center’s mission.
About the Center:
The Center for Eastern and Central European, Russian, and Eurasian Studies is an interdisciplinary research and outreach center focused on the politics, security, cultures, and societies of Eastern and Central Europe, Russia, and Eurasia. The Center serves as a hub for scholarly research, student engagement, and policy-relevant dialogue, hosting regular public events and supporting academic initiatives that connect Troy University to regional, national, and international audiences.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in planning, coordinating, and executing Center-sponsored events, including lectures, panels, workshops, conferences, and guest speaker visits.
Manage event logistics such as room reservations, catering coordination, audiovisual setup, and speaker support.
Serve as on-site support during events, ensuring smooth operations and professional presentation.
Photograph and, when appropriate, video-record Center events and activities for archival and promotional use.
Organize and maintain a digital archive of photos and media assets.
Assist with post-event follow-up, including compiling attendance information and supporting event summaries.
Coordinate with the Center’s communications and external relations staff to ensure event materials align with branding and outreach goals.
Minimum Qualifications
Must be a currently enrolled Master of International Relations graduate student in good standing at Troy University.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Experience with event planning, program coordination, or campus activities.
Ability to take high-quality photographs using DSLR or mirrorless cameras (or equivalent experience).
Preferred Qualifications
Background or interest in international studies, political science, communications, or a related field.
Experience with basic photo editing software (e.g., Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop, or equivalent).
Familiarity with university event protocols and audiovisual systems.
