We are continuously growing our newsletter portfolio and have plans to expand it to 20+ newsletters in the next three years. Archives of all of our newsletters can be found on Substack. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Graduate Data Analyst to join our team. In this role, you will work with the Email Operations Manager to handle the outreach process for our newsletters and be responsible for analyzing data on a subscriber level, finding valuable insights from data using our Customer Data Platform (CDP), creating reports, and optimising and automating data processes. Outreach Process With a subscriber base of 3.3 million Packt users interested in various tech portfolios, the outreach process involves targeting relevant contacts from our database for an outreach email for a newsletter. The current process is to send a defined segment of new users the previous week’s email issue and see if they open it. Those that do are added to the main newsletter weekly issue segment. You will ensure that subscribers are promptly added to their respective newsletters. You will run a series of sanity checks to ensure the accuracy and quality of selected users. Once all the sanity checks are completed, you will add the selected subscribers to the appropriate audience list in MailChimp ready for mailing. Your primary objective will be to ensure the successful delivery of engaging newsletters to our target audience, driving engagement and satisfaction. Responsibilities Manage the outreach process of our newsletters, from selecting users from the CDP to successfully adding them to the MailChimp newsletter lists. Run sanity checks using Python scripts to ensure the accuracy and quality of the selected users. Monitor and track the performance metrics of each newsletter outreach campaign. Analyze outreach results and provide recommendations for improvement. Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in newsletter outreach. Engagement Tracking: Monitor subscriber engagement by tracking opens and interactions with outreach emails. Add engaged subscribers to the weekly issue segment. Ensure that unsubscribes and abuse flags are kept as low as possible. Automation Enhancement: Identify opportunities for process automation within data collection and work towards optimizing efficiency. Cross-Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the BCN team to share findings, insights, and improvements to continually enhance outreach strategies. Work with Growth team to optimise conversion. Work with Platforms team to optimise processes. Performance Optimization: Continuously seek ways to improve the delivery and engagement rates of our newsletters to enhance user satisfaction. Monitor daily and weekly performance of the Newsletters and update global weekly newsletter metrics. Requirements Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Data Science, Computer Science, Business Analytics, etc.). Proficiency in data analysis tools and methodologies, including Power BI. You should be proficient in SQL, adept at deriving valuable insights from extensive datasets, and skilled in communicating findings of the same concisely and clearly. You should have 6 months to 1-year experience in Python programming, either through your studies or post-graduate work. Familiarity with MailChimp is preferred but not mandatory. Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in English. An analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions. Adaptability and willingness to learn new tools and techniques.
