Morphum Environmental seeks an enthusiastic Graduate Ecologist to join our team!

What is the role?
We are looking for a Graduate Kaipūtaiao Ao Tūroa (Environmental Scientist or Ecologist) to join our Tāmaki Makaurau / Auckland team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate to develop their skills in freshwater ecology and/or wetland ecology, resource management legislation, policy and practice.
Your day to day will include, but certainly won't be exclusive, to:
Assisting with ecological impact assessments under the guidance of senior ecologists
Participating in field assessments of streams, rivers, wetlands and associated riparian environments
Contributing to regional watercourse assessments in partnership with hapū, iwi and councils
Working alongside our engineering team to support stormwater management practices
Developing your technical skills through hands-on project experience and on-the-job mentorship

About you
You have recently completed (or are completing) a Bachelor of Science (or equivalent) in Environmental Science, Freshwater Ecology, or a related field
You have a foundational understanding of ecological principles and environmental assessment
You have an interest in wetland ecology and freshwater systems, with some field or academic experience
You are eager to learn and develop your skills in ecological assessment and reporting
You hold strong environmental values and have a genuine passion for sustainability
You are committed to respecting and actively upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi and tikanga Māori and are willing to continuously engage with mātauranga Māori in relation to your role
You thrive in a fast-paced, interpersonal environment
You have good written and verbal communication skills and are eager to develop your ability to work with technical and non-technical audiences
You are located in Tāmaki Makaurau
