Location: Largely Remote (2x in-office per week initially, then predominantly remote)
Salary: £25,000 - £35,000
Applause IT are looking for a Graduate Java Developer on behalf of a leading supplier of bespoke solutions to the law enforcement sector. Their software team designs, develops, and supports cutting-edge applications that directly impact policing institutions in the UK. They specialise in creating web and mobile applications, middleware solutions, and consulting on innovative approaches to technical challenges.
As a Graduate Java Developer, you will:
• Join a small, collaborative development team.
• Work with policing customers to design, build, and support bespoke products.
• Take ownership of projects and gain experience across the full software lifecycle.
• Travel to customers across the UK and abroad to build relationships.
• Contribute to all stages of the software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, development, testing, and deployment.
Skills and Experience Required:
• Ideally a graduate or junior developer with a strong programming background (degree or equivalent qualification).
• Commercial experience with Java.
• Strong knowledge of SQL and Linux (preferably Red Hat or Rocky).
• British national capable of obtaining security clearance (DV required).
• A valid driving license.
Desirable Skills:
• Experience with J2EE, JPA, GWT/GXT, and Vaadin.
This role offers the opportunity to work on impactful projects, take responsibility for delivering software, and explore new technologies. The position is largely remote, with an initial requirement to attend the office twice a week before transitioning to a predominantly remote setup.
