Other Conditions: This position is created specifically to support the Kaho'iwai: Reclaiming Hawaiian Knowledge Sovereignty project. To begin approximately February 2026, pending position clearance and/or availability of funding. The position is located at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa, and is renewable annually for the duration of the grant, contingent upon availability of funds, program/operational needs, satisfactory performance, and good academic standing.
This is an 11-month position, which means the position is on duty throughout the year except during periods of authorized leave.
Minimum Qualifications
Enrolled full-time at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa, in a graduate degree program at the time of hire and throughout the appointment period, be in good academic standing, and maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 or above.
Pursuing a graduate degree in Library & Information Science, Education, Sociology, History, Ethnic Studies, Hawaiian Studies, or related field.
Demonstrated knowledge of Hawaiian history and culture.
Strong interest in learning or honing research and analytical skills, including research, evaluation, survey, and protocol design.
Strong organizational, writing, and communication skills.
Keen attention to detail and ability to synthesize information.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, and students.
Demonstrated experience in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, (or comparable) software.
Demonstrated ability to both independently and collaboratively
Desired Qualifications
Completed LIS 652 Introduction to Archival Management or demonstrated knowledge of archival principles.
Prior work experience on an University of Hawai'i campus.
