About the role
The Graphic Designer brings to life the overall graphic design needs of Council’s brand message and requires a high volume, fast turn-around of flyers, posters, brochures and other publications to meet the high demand of Council’s business requirements. This varied position also undertakes the production of graphics for various web and social media platforms.
You will play a crucial role in creating engaging and impactful designs to effectively convey important information and messages to the community. You will be responsible for producing all of Council’s marketing material including material for the Willoughby Leisure Centre, The Concourse, the Zenith Theatre, Council’s environmental programs and all Council core business as well as the management of Council’s brand and logos.
The main purpose of this position is to reflect Council as a professional organisation through the layout, design and print production of its publications and to ensure information is successfully communicated to the community through appropriate design techniques.
Requirements
Qualifications in Visual Communications, graphic design or related discipline or equivalent experience in a graphic design role
Previous experience in graphic design and the quality production of publications.
Experience in digital design production
Ability to use design software programs, in particular InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and HTML 5 software including Adobe After Effects
Proven experience in design and preparation for the following but not limited to: production of print and digital advertisements, digital and physical signage, digital assets, books, flyers and brochures
Proven ability to work autonomously while also contributing to team projects and a cohesive environment
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a flexible approach, positive and friendly personality and ability to work well within a team
Experience of artwork preparation, including colour management, and knowledge of the print production process.
An understanding of motion graphics and how concepts will animate on digital platforms
