Job Description
The Graphic Illustrator will communicate information, ideas, and instructions via visual drawings and schematics created according to specifications set forth by the customer or company.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Designs, creates, and produces visual concepts for presentations and printed materials.
Collaborates with customers, product specialists, or communications staff to understand instructions and specifications and to organize the project accordingly.
Creates illustrations to be used in technical and instructional manuals and other publications.
Creates accurate exploded-view drawings for assembly and subassembly breakdown based on engineering blueprints.
Ensures the final project addresses the clients needs, deadlines, specifications, and budget.
Maintains accurate records to account for billable time and costs.
Uses artistic judgment to select appropriate composition, design, and layout for each illustration.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Ability to render illustrations for manuals and other publications based on sketches, mechanical blueprints, and drawings.
Ability to accurately and consistently complete work on schedule and with minimal supervision.
Understanding of mechanical blueprints and drawings.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
Ability to exercise creativity to assist clients.
Highly proficient with graphics software and Microsoft Office Suite or similar programs.
Education and Experience:
Associates degree in Technical Art or equivalent work experience in technical art, drafting, or related field required.
Experience producing illustrations from engineering drawings and customer input highly preferred.
