Grill Cook/Chef

Job Summary:

West 80 Steak House, a renowned new restaurant in Caledon known for its culinary excellence and exceptional dining experiences, is currently seeking a talented Grill Cook to enhance our culinary team at Mount Alverno Luxury Resorts. In this role, your primary responsibility will be to prepare a wide variety of dishes tailored to our guests' preferences. Responsibilities:

Manage portions of grill food items and garnish them, regulate temperature of broilers, grills and roasters

Operate mixers and manage ingredients to meet product quality and uniformity standards.

Utilize for relief management, new hire training, inventory control and profitable aspects of people and service.

Maintain station clean food preparation areas; operate large volume cooking equipment such as grills, deep fryers, or griddles.

Cook foods by baking, roasting, broiling, frying, sautéing, steaming and grilling.

Washing and cleaning the kitchen and cooking utensils and storing the equipment at the end of shifts.

Ensuring that the kitchen operation procedures and hygiene meet food safety standards and regulations.

Follow all recipes created by Executive Chef.

Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served

Communication skills to effectively collaborate with the kitchen staff, take orders from the Executive Chef, and understand the special requests of customers.

Time management skills to make sure all dishes are prepared and cooked in a timely manner, meeting the fast-paced demands of the restaurant.

Qualifications

Proven experience as grill cook

Experience in using cutting tools, cookware and bakeware

Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling etc.)

Ability to follow all sanitation procedures.

Ability to work in a team.

Very good communication skills.

Excellent physical condition and stamina.

High school diploma or equivalent; Diploma from a culinary school will be an advantage

Work Environment: Busy and fast-paced kitchen environment. Weekend and holiday shifts will be required.
