Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented, well organized, and strategic Grocery Buyer to join our procurement team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing products to ensure the availability of quality grocery items that meet company standards and customer expectations. This role requires a strong understanding of supply chain management, inventory control, and procurement processes, with proficiency in various ERP systems. The Grocery Buyer will manage promotional programs, play a critical role in maintaining optimal stock levels for 500 plus items in our warehouse, managing vendor relationships, and supporting overall merchandising strategies to drive business success.
Duties
Manage two monthly grocery ads and seasonal programs including item selection.
Manage end-to-end procurement processes for grocery products, including sourcing, purchasing, and inventory management.
Utilize ERP systems such as Dynamics 365 Business Central and other supply chain management tools to track inventory levels, order status, and supplier performance.
Conduct market research to identify new suppliers and sourcing opportunities that align with quality standards and cost objectives.
Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with vendors to secure favorable deals while maintaining quality and delivery timelines.
Collaborate with logistics teams to coordinate product delivery schedules and optimize supply chain efficiency.
Monitor inventory levels to prevent stock shortages or overstock situations for 500 plus warehouse items.
Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure reliable sourcing and continuous improvement in procurement practices.
Analyze pricing trends and market conditions to make informed purchasing decisions that support merchandising goals.
Support production planning and merchandising strategies by ensuring timely availability of products aligned with sales forecasts.
Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, contracts, and supplier communications for compliance and audit purposes.
Experience
Proven experience in procurement or purchasing within the grocery or retail industry.
Experience in planning promotional programs.
Familiarity with ERP systems; experience with Dynamic 365 Business Central is a plus.
Strong knowledge of materials management, inventory control, supply chain management, logistics, and sourcing strategies.
Demonstrated ability in negotiation and contract management to secure advantageous terms with suppliers.
Experience in procurement planning related to production scheduling or merchandising is preferred.
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret market data and pricing trends effectively.
High proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher and other Microsoft Office applications.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and data accuracy. Strong ability to prioritize tasks and deadlines while being flexible and adaptable to changing needs.
Strong communication skills for vendor negotiations and cross-department collaboration. Pay: From $35.00 per hour
