The Group Financial Accountant is responsible for delivering high-quality group-level financial accounting, controls, and statutory support across the organisation. The role plays a key part in month-end close, balance sheet integrity, technical accounting, and supporting budgeting, forecasting, and Board/ELT reporting through accurate and timely financial information.
This role partners closely with FP&A, operational finance teams, and external auditors to ensure strong governance, compliance, and continuous improvement of financial processes.
Key Accountabilities
Financial Accounting & Close
Lead and execute group month-end and year-end close activities, including journals, accruals, prepayments, and provisions
Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely resolution of reconciling items
Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and chart of accounts
Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal policies, and delegated authorities
Group Reporting & Controls
Support preparation of group financial statements and statutory reporting requirements
Assist with audit deliverables, including external audit and internal reviews
Strengthen financial controls, documentation, and evidence to support audit outcomes
Identify control gaps and recommend practical improvements
You will have:
CA/CPA qualification (or near completion) with a strong grounding in financial accounting principles and statutory reporting
5+ years' experience in financial accounting, group reporting or audit, ideally within a complex, multi-entity organisation
Demonstrated experience preparing month-end and year-end close , including journals, reconciliations and variance analysis
Strong understanding of AASB/IFRS , including consolidation principles, intercompany eliminations and technical accounting matters
Proven capability in preparing or supporting group consolidated financial statements and audit deliverables
Experience working with ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle, Dynamics) and advanced Excel skills; exposure to consolidation tools is highly regarded
Ability to partner effectively with FP&A, Tax, Treasury and operational finance teams to ensure accurate and timely reporting
Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced reporting environment
Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, with confidence explaining financial outcomes to non-finance stakeholders
A proactive, improvement-focused mindset, with experience identifying and implementing process improvements and controls
Ability to work independently while also contributing positively within a collaborative group finance team
