The Role
Due to recent project wins and ongoing growth with the current team, our Integrated Buildings Division require a Group Manager to join our innovative and forward thinking team in Canberra. You will be part of a close-knit team that are dedicated to the delivery of good service and technical excellence.
With projects ranging from large commercial to public and private buildings, our team is involved in wide-ranging projects, including some of the largest private and public hospital works in ACT. You will also have the opportunity to take the lead on innovative and sustainable initiatives such as the electrification of mechanical services across schools, hospitals, government facilities and commercial buildings across ACT.
Operating with an appropriate level of autonomy to deliver technically challenging projects, key components of this role include, but are not limited to:
Project delivery of mechanical services projects, heavily involved in a wide range of projects including commercial buildings, residential developments, fit-out, aged care and educational facilities.
Overseeing design and documentation for Mechanical services.
Being a mentor for junior colleagues.
Working closely with a diverse client base, responding efficiently to client's needs, including attendance at meetings and inspections. Acting as first POC for all design coordination and reviews.
Liaising with contractors and sub-contractors at construction stage: design review, on site meetings as required.
Being responsible for project costings, monitoring project performance and budget ensuring that key dates are met and projects remain within budget.
Attributes & experience you will bring:

Proven experience with leading and mentoring a team of engineers.
Experience in preparing detailed mechanical services design documentation for the following sectors: commercial, office, residential and healthcare.
Previous experience with electrification of Mechanical Services is desirable.
Proven experience in a job manager/project manager within a consulting environment.
Comprehensive knowledge of relevant Australian Standards and the National Construction Code.
Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) is highly preferable.
Fundamental knowledge of the following design software: Camel, Revit and AutoCAD.
Accountability to set goals and drive to their fulfilment.
Effective communicator with architects, clients, sub-contractors, and builders.
Creative problem solving skills to continually finds ways to overcome challenges and obstacles.
Highly productive with both strong team ethics and the ability to work independently.

It is essential that you have demonstrated experience as a Sustainability Consultant in the built environment consulting field, including project management, building sustainability design and delivery of ESD projects.
Relevant tertiary qualifications in Sustainability or Engineering.
ESD Strategy development and design thinking is essential.
Green Building Consulting and Certification Experience - As Built and Buildings are essential
NCC Section J Compliance 2026 - DTS and JV3 Modelling is essential
Modelling Experience across GHGE, Daylight, NatHERS, BASIX, Passivehaus, Parametric and LCA. NABERS Energy and Water modelling would be desirable.
Strong working knowledge of other sustainability rating tools, including the WELL Standard and the Living Building Challenge (LBC) frameworks.
Experience with Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) using E-tool or equivalent software is desirable. IES/Design Builder experience is desirable.
Job Management Skills are essential: Project Planning, good level of communication and being able to articulate complex solutions.
Client Management and consulting experience is essential, being able to demonstrate good client side thinking.
Business development and proposals experience is essential: Proposal writing, client pursuits and nurturing.
