Position Title:
Hardscape Mason Assistant
Job Summary:
The Hardscape Mason Foreman Assistant is responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of outdoor hardscape features including patios, walkways, retaining walls, driveways, pavers, stonework, concrete surfaces, and other masonry-related landscape structures. This position requires knowledge of construction methods, safe equipment operation, and the ability to work efficiently in outdoor environments while maintaining high-quality workmanship.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Install pavers, bricks, concrete, stone, block walls, retaining walls, and other hardscape materials
Prepare job sites by grading, excavation, measuring, leveling, and compacting surfaces
Read and interpret blueprints, layouts, and project specifications
Mix and pour concrete, mortar, and other masonry materials
Cut and shape stone, brick, and pavers using hand tools and power equipment
Build and repair walkways, patios, driveways, stairs, fire pits, seating walls, and drainage systems
Operate equipment and hand tools safely
Ensure all work meets company quality standards and customer expectations
Follow all safety regulations, OSHA standards, and company policies
Maintain clean and organized job sites
Communicate effectively with supervisors, crew members, and clients when needed
Assist with loading, unloading, and transporting materials and equipment
Qualifications:
Previous experience in masonry, hardscape installation, landscaping, or construction preferred
Knowledge of pavers, concrete, stonework, and retaining wall systems
Ability to lift heavy materials (50+ lbs) and perform physically demanding labor
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship
Reliable transportation and punctual attendance
Valid driver’s license
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Communicate English & Spanish
Physical Requirements:
Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, lifting, and climbing
Ability to work on uneven surfaces and construction sites
Exposure to dust, noise, heat, cold, and outdoor elements
Work Environment:
This position is performed primarily outdoors on residential and commercial job sites. The role may require early start times, overtime, and weekend work depending on project schedules.

Handling of deliveries and pickups from suppliers, clients, or government agencies, sometimes involving financial transactions or documentation.
Responsibility for vehicle maintenance and reporting, which may include use of fuel cards, GPS tracking systems, or other sensitive equipment.
Foremen additions
Supervision of crews on private and public works job sites, requiring leadership, accountability, and decision-making authority over workers.
Oversight of safety compliance and enforcement of OSHA and workplace regulations, which directly impacts employee and public safety.
Access to confidential employee information, schedules, and project documentation, which requires discretion and trust.
Authority over company property, including assignment and control of tools, materials, and vehicles.
Interaction with clients, inspectors, and public agency representatives, representing the company in official capacities.
Responsibility for daily reporting, change orders, and incident documentation, which may involve sensitive data or legal implications.
