Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced, passionate, and visionary Head Chef to lead our kitchen operations. The ideal candidate will be a true advocate for vegan cuisine, possess exceptional culinary skills, and demonstrate strong leadership abilities to inspire and develop our kitchen team. This role is critical in maintaining our high standards of food quality, efficiency, and hygiene across both our dine-in and high-volume subscription services.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Culinary Leadership & Menu Development:

- Oversee and manage all aspects of kitchen operations for both dine-in and subscription services.

- Ensure the consistent preparation and presentation of all food items, adhering to Daily Bowl's quality standards and recipes.

- Collaborate with management to innovate and develop new vegan dishes, keeping abreast of global vegan culinary trends and incorporating them into our offerings.

- Specifically, work on evolving the fixed menus for Salad, High Protein, and Milk subscriptions to ensure variety, nutritional balance, and customer satisfaction.

2. Kitchen Management & Operations:

- Plan and execute daily mise en place and production schedules for both dine-in service and high-volume subscription meal preparation.

- Implement and monitor efficient kitchen workflows to ensure timely service and delivery, especially for time-sensitive subscription pickups and deliveries.

- Manage inventory, ordering, and stock rotation of all ingredients, ensuring freshness and minimizing spoilage.

- Oversee the proper use and maintenance of all kitchen equipment.

- Ensure all food handling and preparation practices comply with local health and safety regulations.

3. Team Leadership & Development:

- Recruit, train, mentor, and motivate kitchen staff to achieve high levels of performance and productivity.

- Foster a positive, collaborative, and respectful work environment.

- Actively encourage and lead the team in learning new vegan cuisines, preparation techniques, and culinary skills, expanding their expertise beyond current offerings.

- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to kitchen team members.

- Develop staff schedules and manage labor costs effectively.

4. Quality Control & Compliance:

- Implement and strictly enforce food safety and hygiene standards (HACCP principles, where applicable).

- Understand, interpret, and diligently execute all aspects of audit checklists related to kitchen operations, hygiene, and food quality.

- Conduct regular kitchen inspections to ensure cleanliness, organization, and adherence to sanitation protocols.

- Monitor food costs and implement strategies to control expenses without compromising quality.

5. Innovation & Continuous Improvement:

- Stay updated with the latest trends in vegan gastronomy, sustainable practices, and kitchen technology.

- Continuously seek opportunities to improve kitchen efficiency, food quality, and guest satisfaction.

- Be proactive in problem-solving and adapting to operational challenges.

Qualifications & Experience:

- Proven experience (7+ years) as a Head Chef, Sous Chef, or similar leadership role in a reputable restaurant or catering operation.

- Mandatory in-depth understanding and hands-on experience with diverse vegan cuisine preparation, ingredients, and techniques.

- Strong leadership and team management skills with a demonstrated ability to motivate, train, and develop kitchen staff.

- Excellent understanding of food safety, hygiene regulations, and experience in managing and adhering to audit checklists.

- Proven ability to manage kitchen operations, inventory, and and cost control effectively.

- Creative flair and passion for developing innovative vegan dishes.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

- Culinary degree or equivalent professional culinary training is preferred.
