Full Job Description
1. The head chef is responsible for creating and developing the menu for the restaurant. They must consider factors such as food trends, seasonality, and the availability of ingredients, as well as cost, to create a menu that is both delicious and profitable.
2. Supervision of Kitchen Staff: The head chef is responsible for supervising the kitchen staff, including cooks, sous chefs, and dishwashers. This includes scheduling, training, and mentoring, as well as ensuring that all kitchen staff adhere to health and safety regulations.
3. Food Quality Control: The head chef is responsible for ensuring that all food leaving the kitchen is of the highest quality. This includes tasting and inspecting dishes before they are served to customers.
4. Ordering and Inventory: The head chef is responsible for ordering and maintaining inventory of all food and kitchen supplies. They must also ensure that all inventory is used before it expires, to minimize waste and maintain profitability.
