Job Description
Hundreds of clinical trials are run using cutting edge technologies. New roles dedicated to innovation continue to be created to focus on breakthrough opportunities.
The purpose of the role is to contribute to the development and implementation of overall strategy for Data Sciences and drive innovation initiatives. Accountable for aligning “Data & Digital” strategy and development of Novartis data science capabilities. Role models a culture of analytical decision making and data sciences across Novartis in research, development, commercial, manufacturing and support functions. Enable recognition of Novartis as a leader in the field of AI/ML and advanced analytics. Overall responsibility for creation, nurturing and growth of the digital charter and establish it as a gold standard within Novartis.
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Responsible for actively driving a culture of knowledge building and sharing within the team. Encourage continuous innovation and out of the box thinking along with proven track record to white-board and transform ideas from high level business problem statements to a detailed outline of solution
• Own up program delivery at enterprise level by providing vision to project teams in delivering impactful solutions and driving critical review meetings to articulate the value of such solutions to the client's business.
• Set up regular governance cadence with various customers to ensure the program delivery is closely aligned with business needs and deliver measurable value
• Work on the development of operating policies and procedures to promote operational excellence across the Data Science practice teams in Novartis
• Demonstrate operational efficiency by continuously improving and implementing the latest standards in AI ML and measure the efficiency gains against the operational and financial KPIs and contribute to cost savings at function level
• Ability to analyze pros-and-cons of different options in the context of multitude of business problems and articulate such choices to various customers including technical and business functions.
• Evidence of strong analytical, critical, and creative thinking and willingness to take initiative in problem-solving. Demonstrated interest and proven career path in industries such as pharmaceuticals, healthcare, financial services or insurance
• Experience in building and growing a Data Science / advanced analytics team with ability to work in matrix environment and responsible for defining and manage Data Science & AI strategy across multiple businesses and demonstrate executive presence in interactions with CxO level customers.

Minimum Requirements
What you’ll bring to the role:
• Masters in a quantitative field, Ph.D. highly preferred (e.g. Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, bioinformatics, epidemiology and Statistics; can also consider Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Decision Science, Quantitative Research, Econometrics, Computational Physics/Chemistry/Biology).
• Masters in pharmaceutical domain, Life sciences, Bachelor’s degree in Medicine field with solid understanding of various data science domains
• 15+ years of relevant experience in Data Science, experience in Pharma/Healthcare desirable. Cross-industry experience highly preferred. Experience in Global leadership role (s). Track- record of delivering Global solutions at scales.
• Proven track record of broad pharmaceutical industry experience and robust understanding of enterprise data science, technology landscapes and relationships, as well as large program integration experience.
• Experience in building the enterprise data science strategy, governance and implementation of large-scale data science / advanced analytics programs
• Experience in Agile project delivery and general management in an international environment. Strong problem-solving ability to understand, structure, present and decide solutions in the area of responsibility.
• Experience in advising peers and senior customers on complex issues and providing contextual guidance on complex topics to help influence customer actions.
• Experience in running and leading internal and external resources posted in different geographies and time zones and managing large teams, team building, coaching and mentoring in a global environment.
