About KushoAI
KushoAI is an AI-native developer productivity platform built for modern engineering teams. Our mission is to eliminate the busywork from software development so developers can focus on building, creating, and shipping their best work. The platform uses advanced generative AI to make software maintenance autonomous, embedding intelligent agents directly into real engineering workflows.
Founded in 2026 by BITS alumni and backed by leading global investors, KushoAI brings cutting-edge AI into the heart of software teams. We work with fast-growing startups and mid-to-large enterprises that rely on stable releases, complex testing environments, and high-velocity shipping cycles. Many of our customers operate in controlled or hybrid environments, require on-prem deployments, and need tailored integrations that adapt to their internal tooling and constraints.
If you enjoy solving ambiguous, high-impact problems and building technology that directly affects how engineering teams ship software, you’ll feel right at home.
The role
We’re hiring a Forward Deployed Engineering Lead - an engineering leader who is hands-on, customer-facing, and deeply involved in both platform evolution and real-world deployments.
You’ll own platform improvements, stability initiatives, on-prem enterprise deployments, customer customizations, and end-to-end delivery of mission-critical features. You’ll also lead a small engineering group of two to three people, guiding execution, mentoring team members, and ensuring high-quality delivery across multiple active workstreams.
This role sits at the core of KushoAI’s product and customer impact. You’ll work closely with the founders, influence product direction, and be responsible for shipping reliable, scalable, and secure solutions in environments where correctness matters.
We’re currently remote-first with the team based in Bangalore.
The ideal candidate
We’re an engineering-first team focused on building foundational systems at the intersection of AI, testing, and developer tooling. If you enjoy untangling complex deployment environments, architecting adaptable systems, and collaborating directly with customers to solve high-stakes problems, this role will excite you.
We value technical depth, ownership, pragmatism, and the drive to turn ambitious ideas into stable, production-grade outcomes.
What you’ll build and lead
Platform-level enhancements that strengthen the reliability, scalability, and intelligence of our testing agent
On-prem and hybrid deployments that demand creativity, security awareness, and adaptability to customer-specific environments
Custom integrations, extensions, and workflow-specific features for enterprise customers
Improvements to stability, performance, and developer experience across our Python backend, agent systems, and React-based interfaces
Delivery and operational processes that ensure smooth implementations and predictable customer success
A small, high-velocity engineering team delivering end-to-end solutions in fast cycles
Skills we’re looking for
8–10 years of hands-on engineering experience building production systems
Strong expertise in
Python ,
React , and cloud-native development with
AWS
Comfort working in constrained or heterogeneous environments, including on-prem and custom customer infrastructure
Strong architectural thinking and ability to design scalable, maintainable systems
Experience debugging distributed, environment-dependent, or unpredictable systems
Proven leadership experience mentoring engineers and guiding technical execution
Clear communication, customer empathy, and the ability to translate complex requirements into actionable solutions
A bias toward ownership, stability, and long-term technical excellence
If you join us, you’ll shape
The technical foundation of KushoAI’s autonomous testing and maintenance platform
Our methodologies for on-prem and enterprise deployments
Quality and reliability standards for systems used in critical engineering workflows
Customer delivery processes that ensure seamless rollout and adoption
Product direction through direct exposure to real customer challenges
The culture and operating cadence of a focused, high-ownership engineering team
Location
Bangalore, India
Remote-first (fully remote for now)

Job description
About Us: Magma Group is a fast-growing industrial materials company building scalable businesses in waste, chemicals & advanced materials. Headquartered in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, Magma actively serves over 250 manufacturers, ranging from SMEs to large enterprises. As a CARE-rated, venture-funded, and fully compliant entity, we are committed to delivering high-quality, sustainable, and innovative solutions that enhance production performance while reducing costs and environmental impact. Magma Engineering & MRO is a new business vertical of Magma, created to support factories with end-to-end precision engineering, machining, fabrication, and maintenance solutions — from design to delivery. With captive control over advanced machining and fabrication facilities equipped with CNC, VMC, deep-hole drilling, honing, turn-milling, heavy fabrication, and precision inspection systems, this vertical operates as an extended in-house engineering arm for our customers. The focus is on reliability, speed, quality, and long-term partnerships. Position Overview: The Head – Engineering & MRO will be responsible for building, scaling, and leading Magma’s Engineering & MRO vertical end-to-end. The Head – Engineering & MRO must possess deep hands-on understanding of precision machining processes and be able to translate complex drawings into repeatable, scalable manufacturing solutions using CNC, VMC, turn-mill, deep-hole drilling, honing, and advanced inspection capabilities. This role combines technical leadership, operations excellence, customer engagement, and P&L ownership to establish Magma as a trusted engineering partner for factories across industries. The incumbent will ensure execution across machining, fabrication, maintenance support, quality, and delivery — while integrating captive facilities into a single, high-performance engineering ecosystem. Key Responsibilities: · Own the overall strategy, growth, and profitability of the Engineering & MRO vertical · Define service offerings across precision machining, fabrication, MRO, prototyping, and batch production · Build Magma’s positioning as a long-term engineering partner embedded in customer operations · Identify industry clusters, key accounts, and repeat-program opportunities · Lead captive machining and fabrication facilities as integrated extensions of Magma · Oversee process planning, feasibility analysis, tooling strategy, and production scheduling · Read, interpret, and challenge complex drawings, tolerances, and GD&T · Ensure optimal utilization of CNC, VMC, turn-mill, deep-hole drilling, honing, fabrication, and toolroom capabilities. · Identify manufacturing risks early — tolerance risk, distortion, tool wear, inspection gaps. Balance precision, cost, cycle time, and delivery without compromising reliability · Establish and enforce robust quality systems across all facilities · Oversee inspection, documentation, traceability, and customer audits · Build a culture of first-time-right manufacturing. Act as the senior engineering interface for key customers ·Support customers during shutdowns, retrofits, urgent breakdowns, and critical spare requirements. Enable customers to choose material + machining or machining-only models seamlessly ·Support preventive, corrective, and shutdown maintenance programs · Develop quick-response workflows for downtime-critical components · Build and mentor a strong team across engineering, production, QA, planning, and vendor coordination · Enable cross-selling and integrated solutions for manufacturing customers · Strengthen Magma’s role inside the broader manufacturing value chain Key Deliverables & Outcomes · Scaled and profitable Engineering & MRO vertical · High customer retention and repeat production programs · Reduced turnaround times and consistent delivery performance · Strong quality reputation with zero-critical failures · Well-integrated captive facilities operating as one system Qualifications: · 12–18+ years of experience in precision engineering, machining, fabrication, or industrial MRO. · Proven leadership of CNC/VMC-based operations and complex machining programs. · Experience managing multi-facility or captive manufacturing setups. · Strong exposure to customer-facing engineering roles and key account handling. · Ability to balance engineering depth with commercial outcomes. · High ownership, decisiveness, and problem-solving capability. · Comfortable operating in fast-growing, evolving environment. What We Offer: · Salary is negotiable for the right candidate. · Opportunity to build and lead a high-impact vertical from the ground up. · Access to captive, advanced engineering capabilities — not just vendor coordination. · Long-term vision, strong leadership backing, and meaningful customer impact · Opportunities for professional development and growth. · A collaborative and innovative work environment. Equal Opportunity Employer: Magma is an equal-opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
