Role
A Head of NPD (New Product Development) is a leadership role responsible for overseeing and managing the entire product development process within the plastics/Polymer sector. The specific duties and responsibilities may vary depending on the company and its focus, but generally, the role involves the following:
Location: South India
Reporting to Senior management team
Organisation The role is in a manufacturing organisation which is now a part of the large MNC group which is one of the leaders in the industry specialised sector in the global industry. The Indian entity has around 10 manufacturing facilities and new upcoming plants and also more than 20 contract manufacturing facilities.
Responsibilities -
o Develop and articulate a clear vision and strategy for new product development in the plastics/Polymer sector.
o Oversee the entire product development lifecycle, from concept ideation to commercialization.
o Lead the design and development of new plastic. products, ensuring they meet quality standards, cost targets, and regulatory requirements.
o Lead and manage a team of professionals involved in product development.
o Develop and manage project plans, timelines, and budgets; Ensure that projects are delivered on time and within budget constraints.
o Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including research and development, engineering, manufacturing, marketing, and sales, to ensure alignment with overall business objectives.
o Responsible to Lead VA/VE Analysis and Cost Savings/Profitability projects for New Products as well as existing Products.
o Preferably having experience in Digital Twin Technology.
o Drive a culture of continuous improvement within the NPD team, identifying opportunities to enhance processes and increase efficiency.
o Stay informed about latest Technologies, industry trends & market demands within the plastics sector.
Required Candidate profile:
o A minimum of 15+ years of experience in New Product development profile in Plastics/Polymer Industry.
o Education PhD Chemistry/Chemical/Polymers/Plastics
Candidates for this role typically need a strong background in plastics engineering, materials science, or a related field, along with significant experience in product development and project management within the plastics industry.
