Position Overview: The Head of Design & Development (HoD) will be responsible for defining product specifications, supervising design and development activities, recruiting and managing a multidisciplinary team, and ensuring that all products meet rigorous quality and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
• Product Specification and Requirements Definition:
• Define technical requirements and specifications for products such as electronic detonators, loggers, and exploders.
• Tools and Equipment Specification:
• Identify and specify necessary tools, equipment, and software required for efficient product design and development.
• Design and Development Supervision:
• Oversee all tasks related to the design and development of products, ensuring adherence to project timelines and budgets.
• Develop electronic detonators and other devices based on proprietary designs utilizing microcontrollers like the 8051 etc.
• Team Recruitment and Management:
• Recruit, train, and manage a multidisciplinary team, including firmware engineers, hardware engineers, and software application engineers.
• Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment
• Prototype Development and Testing:
• Lead the development of prototypes, ensuring rigorous laboratory and field testing to validate design concepts.
• Ensure products undergo comprehensive testing and qualification processes
• Documentation and Compliance:
• Generate detailed documentation encompassing design specifications, testing protocols, and quality assurance records.
• Ensure all products comply with industry standards & regulatory needs.
Qualifications and Experience:
• Educational Background:
• Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
• Professional Experience:
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in electronic product design and development, with at least 4 years in a leadership role.
• Proven experience in developing products from concept to market, particularly in the fields of electronic detonators or similar devices.
• Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in designing with various microcontrollers etc.
• Strong understanding of firmware development, hardware design
• Experience with networking, geofencing, and application development is a plus.
• Leadership and Management Skills:
• Demonstrated ability to recruit, lead, and mentor a diverse engineering team.
• Excellent project management skills, with a track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in the development of electronic detonators, loggers, exploders, or similar products.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements specific to electronic detonators and related devices.
• Knowledge of the latest industry trends and technological advancements in electronic product design.
