Job Description
We're looking for an entrepreneurial, passionate, and driven Head of Engineering to join Startup Gala Intelligence backed by Navneet Tech Ventures, as our technical co-pilot. As we're building our technology products and services from scratch, you'll have the unique opportunity to shape our technology vision, architecture, and engineering culture right from the ground up. You’ll directly contribute to foundational development and establish best practices, while eventually building and leading our engineering team.
This role is ideal for someone eager to own the entire tech stack, who thrives on early-stage challenges, and loves building innovative, scalable solutions from day zero.
What you'll do:
• Hands-On Coding & Technical Leadership: Take complete ownership of backend development by actively contributing to the codebase while also leading, mentoring, and scaling a high-performing engineering team as the company grows.
• Platform Architecture & Development: Design, architect, and implement the backend infrastructure and APIs for our platform. Write robust, scalable, and maintainable code from the ground up.
• Infrastructure & DevOps: Set up, secure, and maintain our cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP). Establish efficient CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker), and orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Database Management: Decide and manage database technologies (SQL/NoSQL), ensuring optimal schema design, data integrity, performance, and scalability.
• System Reliability & Security: Build resilient and secure systems with thorough monitoring, incident management, and robust security practices (IAM, encryption, compliance standards).
• Integration & Collaboration: Seamlessly integrate with third-party APIs and services. Collaborate closely with the product and business teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Technical Leadership: As our technical visionary, you'll lead hiring, mentorship, code reviews, and team growth. You'll define and uphold our engineering standards and culture.
Who you are:
Technical Requirements:
• 5-10 years of backend software engineering experience in a high-growth startup or data-intensive tech environment.
• Proven experience designing and implementing backend systems and APIs.
• Highly experienced in modern cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP).
• Proficiency with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Proficiency with one or more programming languages like NodeJS, TypeScript, NestJS, Python
• Strong knowledge of relational (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and non-relational (MongoDB, DynamoDB) databases.
• Own the design, development, evaluation, and deployment of highly scalable software products involving front-end and back-end development.
• Prioritize and distribute the tasks amongst the team members.
