Position: Head of Government Relations (GR)
Location: New Delhi
Experience Required: Over 10-12 years, with a minimum of 2 years in senior leadership roles focused on government relations, policy advocacy, or public affairs, preferably in the international development or non-profit sector.

Position Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven individual to join our leadership team as the Head of Government Relations. This role is pivotal in establishing and maintaining strategic government partnerships to advance our mission. The role will be reporting into the COO, will be leading efforts to secure new state and Government of India (GoI) partnerships and will manage a team of 5-6 individuals with 2-3 direct reportees to support these initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
• State & GoI Partnerships Development: Identify and secure new government partnerships to advance Indus Action's mission. Engage with state and central governments, policymakers, and adjacent key stakeholders to build and sustain relationships.
• Citizen Experience Learning Lab (CELL): Translate government’s needs to diagnostic studies by the CELL team and support triangulation efforts to inform and form government partnerships. CELL diagnoses policy implementation workflow breakdowns within citizen communities and also at the state level. The function is responsible for generating insights for recommending improved policy workflows, changes to policy rules and also informing technology solution designs for better management of scheme delivery by governments.
• Policy Advocacy: Advocate for policy changes and enhancements that align with Indus Action's objectives. Work with our Advisory Council members and communications team to leverage org networks and build collateral respectively. Represent the organisation in high-level meetings, forums, and conferences to influence policy decisions.
• Strategic Planning: Develop and implement a strategic plan for government relations that aligns with the organisation’s goals. Identify opportunities for collaboration and influence within state and central governments. Build systems to sustainably with governments on organisation goals.
• Team Management: Lead and mentor a team of 2-3 individuals, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment. Provide guidance and support to team members in their roles and responsibilities. Work with Operations Team Leads to build GR capacity of operational teams.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with various stakeholders, including government officials, civil society organisations, and other partners, to promote Indus Action's initiatives and secure support.
• Monitoring and Reporting: Track and report on the progress of state and central government partnership initiatives. Ensure that all activities are aligned with the organisation’s strategic goals and objectives and build the equivalent of a CRM to drive visibility to inputs and outputs towards building GR.
• Capacity Building: Provide training and capacity-building support to staff and partners to enhance their understanding of government relations and advocacy.
Qualifications
• A Master’s degree in a relevant field such as public policy, political science, law, or international relations.
• Over 10-12 years of experience in government relations, policy advocacy, or public affairs, with at least 2 years in a senior leadership role.
• Proven track record of securing and managing state/central government partnerships and influencing policy changes.
• Strong understanding of the political and policy landscape in India, particularly at the state level.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with high-level stakeholders.
• Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities.
• Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.

Compensation
The compensation will be based on the Indus Action‘s compensation benchmarking rubric. The range of compensation will be depending on the qualifications, experience and fit to the role.
The candidate would need to use his/her own laptop and the organization will bear the annual maintenance cost up to INR 12,000 per year as per actuals.
