We're on the hunt for an experienced leader to guide ASB's internal communication as we inspire, engage and connect our whānau of more than 6,000 across the bank. Our supportive team is all about collaboration, storytelling and making sure our people have the right information at their fingertips, so if you're a communication guru who can see the big picture, loves bringing people together and making complex things simple, we'd love to have you on board.
This is a 14-month fixed term opportunity covering our current leader who goes on parental leave in October 2026.
Mo te tūranga | About the Role
You'll be the driving force behind our internal communication strategies, working closely with our senior leaders to make sure activities align with organisational goals, build our culture and celebrate our people. You'll also be responsible for making sure our messaging is on point, so teams understand how they contribute to ASB's success.
As a key player in our Corporate Affairs team, you know how to stay connected within a complex organisation so we confidently deliver timely, targeted, and effective internal communications.
This could be anything from bank-wide announcements to strategic advice and support for complex issues. You'll also have your finger on the pulse of the latest internal comms trends, channels, and tech advancements, and use that expertise to benefit our team and our people.

As a seasoned internal comms expert with a passion for best practice and employee engagement, here's what you bring to the team:
Experience in leading a team - you know how to get the best out of people and help them grow and develop.
A one team, collaborative mindset - you're all about working together and supporting each other to achieve shared success.
Ability to see the big picture and connect the dots.
A talent for writing and passion for best practice strategic internal communications and engagement - you can craft a compelling message and know how to share it in a way that makes sense for our people.
Confidence working at all levels of an organisation - you're comfortable advising and influencing different teams and stakeholders to get the job done.
Experience in change and transformation communication - you know how to navigate complex situations and communicate simply and effectively.
Ability to work calmly, accurately, and professionally in a fast-paced environment - you're cool under pressure, stay on top of a busy workload and keep things moving.
An eye for anticipating, identifying, mitigating, and managing reputation risk - you're always thinking ahead and know how to protect our brand.
