Wakatipu High School’s vision is for Aotearoa New Zealand’s best all-round education. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced educator to lead our Learning Support team, Te Whare Tauewhiro. This key role is responsible for the strategic development and operational management of our learning support and special education programs, ensuring alignment with the school's vision, values, and strategic goals.
The successful candidate will champion the inclusion of all students and lead a dedicated team of staff, including teachers, teacher aides and youth workers, to support student engagement, learning, progress and achievement.
Key responsibilities include:
Program Oversight: Manage and develop key support areas, including alternative education, off-site programs, and special education (ORS).
Student Support: Ensure all students requiring intervention are identified and supported with appropriate plans, including IEPs and Special Assessment Conditions.
Staff Leadership: Oversee the professional growth of all learning support staff, managing workloads and timetabling.
Stakeholder Liaison: Work collaboratively with senior leadership, deans, and external agencies to ensure seamless support and successful transitions for students.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to inclusive education, exceptional leadership skills, and a proven ability to implement effective systems that enhance student learning outcomes.
Wakatipu High School is a well-resourced, co-educational school with a growing roll of more than 1500 students, situated in Queenstown in the stunning Wakatipu Basin.
