Head Of Legal - Job description

We are looking for a qualified, operational, experienced and motivated professional to take on the role of Head of Legal.

This fast-growing legal practice has outstanding technology which supports paperless home-based work and is therefore looking for a candidate that can be home based but needs to be in the office 2/3 times a week.

We are looking for the right person to help develop the conveyancing department. We have a strong sales team generating sufficient work to keep our lawyers busy but would also support you developing your own existing network.

As Head of Legal, you will provide creative, strategic and commercial legal advice across all core business activities. You’ll provide legal advice, oversight and effective support to all the projects, while supervising the legal team on regulatory conveyancing matters with particular emphasis on effective communication and people skills to drive the desired outcome through quality coaching and support to improve the skills, accuracy and awareness of the legal team.

This person will be responsible for ensuring the business is compliant with all regulatory requirements and be able to advise and guide the management on ensuring that all our processes are compliant.

The Position:

· You will report to the Operations Director & Director

· You will support the efficient running of the legal support, manage your day-to-day legal work and provide legal counsel to the organisation

· You will be an active member of the management team to provide legal guidance

· You will be abreast of changes to the law and have responsibility for advising the management of any amendments to our processes required as a result of these changes

· You will be the formal point of contact for the business for the regulatory body and will be responsible for dealing with them as required

Person:

· Comprehensive working knowledge and experience of working in a legal position providing clear advice on a wide range of complex conveyancing matters

· You should have excellent people and communication skills, both verbally and written

· You will have excellent leadership, persuasion and negotiation skills at all levels (internal and external), be a self-motivated, positive and innovative person that has effective problem-solving skills

· Previous line management with competing demanding workloads is desirable
