As we continue to uphold our tradition of excellence, we are seeking an experienced and passionate Head of Religious and Values Education (RaVE) to oversee exemplary standards of teaching, curriculum and assessment development and innovation, in all year levels across the Junior and Senior Schools.

Ultimately, the RAVE curriculum is designed to shape hearts and minds of Canterbury students as part of our determination for them to become “confident, optimistic and compassionate young people who are World Ready.”

Responsibilities Include:

Lead the performance and academic outcomes of students in the RAVE (Religious and Values Education) subject area.
Chair curriculum meetings and guide the strategic direction of the RAVE department.
Support professional growth and development of RAVE teaching staff.
Engage with students, parents, and colleagues to support a positive learning community.
Work collaboratively with peers to meet position and departmental responsibilities.
Represent the spiritual learning domains in the school’s pastoral and student development programs.
Drive curriculum planning from Prep to Year 12, incorporating age-appropriate pedagogy and The Canterbury Way.
Deliver senior RAVE lectures within the Character and Resilience Education program.
Use data and assessment analytics to monitor progress, lead moderation, and refine teaching programs.
Organise assessment moderation activities that support consistent and comparable judgements of student learning.
Foster an inclusive, stimulating classroom environment that encourages critical thinking and problem-solving.
Develop a culture of high expectations for all students by modelling appropriate dress, language, behaviour and communication practices.
Through the Communities of Practice (CoPs) teams, be active and engaged in sharing practice and raising the bar of student achievement.

Have a willingness to be part of a well-established and collaborative team.
Portray a demonstrated ability to apply the principles of inclusive teaching and learning, including the use of learning technologies and assessment, to create a supportive and challenging environment in which students are supported in achieving to their potential.
Have an active interest in, and commitment to the education of our students.
Experience in harnessing the experience of a teaching team and developing a results-focused and collaborative culture.
Proven ability to conduct oneself in a way which develops personal respect, respect for the College and the teaching profession.
Essential Qualifications:

Significant experience in teaching religious education in an independent school with proven experience and track record in curriculum development.
A worldview of Anglican identity aligned with the contemporary hospitable and inclusive approach of the comprehensive Anglicanism of the Southern Queensland Diocese;

Undergraduate or postgraduate learning in theology.
Current Queensland College of Teacher Registration.
All Canterbury staff are expected to support the school's Anglican ethos and values.
