Join the Central Agencies I&IT Cluster and lead the design, development, and implementation of innovative, cost-effective technology solutions that drive government efficiency and service delivery. As a key technical leader, you'll guide project teams, provide expert systems development and consulting, and shape IT strategies that support the business priorities of the Ontario Public Service.

The Central Agencies I&IT Cluster ensures the Ontario Public Service has the tools, expert support, and knowledge to optimize I&IT investments and meet government priorities. We support key offices and ministries, including the Premier's Office, Cabinet Office, Finance, Infrastructure, and related agencies. Our work is essential to delivering efficient, cost-effective services and driving innovation across government.

About the job
In this role, you will:
lead project teams in designing, developing, and implementing cost-effective IT solutions and services
prepare project plans, resource estimates, and provide technical leadership throughout the development cycle
analyze client IT needs, conduct feasibility studies, and recommend innovative solutions aligned with business goals
design, code, test, and implement complex applications while ensuring compliance with corporate standards
advise on technology acquisition, manage vendor contracts, and oversee database administration for applications
research emerging technologies and contribute to setting IT strategies, standards, and best practices across the enterprise
What you bring to the team
Technical Knowledge
You have:
proficiency in systems design and development methodologies
strong programming knowledge (concepts, languages, standards)
the ability to evaluate and recommend hardware/software and IT services
knowledge of database management systems and application database administration
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills
You can:
evaluate and assess the client's information and system needs, and define information technology and business requirements.
recommend and develop information technology solutions which are cost-effective and support the improvement of client program/service delivery.
design, develop, test and implement system solutions
demonstrate troubleshooting and decision-making skills for complex system development challenges
System Technology Knowledge
You have:
knowledge of system technologies (such as operating systems, custom application software, packaged applications, and client customized software and networks), and the ability to acquire and apply knowledge of Cluster technology platforms
knowledge of emerging technologies, to lead a project team in the identification and evaluation of information technology options for clients
the ability to understand Cluster administrative policies and directives to ensure compliance of recommendations on acquisition of technology and services, and negotiation of contracts
Team Leadership and Interpersonal Skills
You have:
team leadership skills to coordinate the development of technical project plans, control project process and provide technical leadership to project staff and external stakeholders
proven consultation, interpersonal, and team-work skills to work effectively with colleagues and clients
Communication Skills
You have:
oral communication skills to discuss client requirements and lead discussions of system development options and technical processes
the ability to communicate and explain alternate system development solutions to clients
written communication skills to prepare technical documents, project reports, and business cases
