Permanent – 80 rostered hours per fortnight

Play a key role in supporting staff, patients and their whanau as they are prepared for surgery or procedures.

About the Role

In this role you will support the busy DOSA team in the perioperative environment at Waikato Hospital. In this vital role you will work under the supervision of Registered and Enrolled nurses and provide support and assistance to patients and nursing teams in the Pre and Post-operative setting.

This is a full-time, permanent position where you will work 40 hours per week working rostered rotating shifts Monday to Friday, the shifts are 0645, 0830, 1100 and 1200. These start and finish times are subject to change as the need arises. A full orientation will be given to the successful candidate on appointment

Key responsibilities:

Performs routine activities of daily living for patients under the delegation and direction of a registered nurse.

Functioning as a member of an interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary team to contribute to achieving the consumer’s

Push patients who are in beds to theatre.

Care for the luggage of patients who are going to theatre.

About you

Previous healthcare experience, preferably working in a New Zealand hospital or emergency service

Knowledge and understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi

Excellent verbal communication and time-management skills

Have a strong customer focus

Be physically fit

Be dedicated to being an important part of our health care team

Have the ability to problem solve and troubleshoot
