Health and Safety Business Partner
Council is seeking to appoint a permanent full time Health and Safety Business Partner to contribute to Council’s success.
9-day fortnight, finishing at 2.37pm

About the Role
The purpose of this position is to support Council’s commitment to provide and promote a safety culture for all employees, contractors, visitors and members of the public. This role will spend a significant amount of time in the field leading WHS initiatives and projects, auditing WHS Management Systems and leading incident investigations across all areas of Council.
Your role will include:
Promoting a positive Workplace Health and Safety culture and ensure active compliance
Developing your career in local government
Being present, pro-active and solutions-focused and recognise that the community is the core of our business.
You will bring:
Tertiary Qualifications in Workplace, Health & Safety (or related discipline) and/or significant demonstrated experience in a health and safety related discipline.
Demonstrated experience in working in a complex, high risk workplace implementing safety programs that have improved safety performance.
Demonstrated experience in investigations (e.g. Incident Causal Assessment Method) involving internal and external parties and auditing qualifications.
Demonstrated high-level skills in dealing confidently, courteously tactfully and diplomatically to all levels within the organisation, along with high-level interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated capability in building an effective and proactive safety culture, delivering high satisfaction and quality partnerships.
Well-developed team-work skills and the ability to build positive working relationships within People and Strategy and across the organisation.
Ability to deliver a professional consultancy and critical-issue management service.
Ability to compose and present correspondence of a non-specialist nature.
Ability to monitor, review and update any changes to Work Health and Safety legislation, including Codes of Practice or Australian Standards.
Capacity to work independently with minimal direction and collaboratively in a team environment.
Comprehensive knowledge of an experience interpreting and applying legislation, awards, industrial instruments and workplace policies.
Proficient keyboard skills and experience using Microsoft Office Suite and operating corporate business systems.
Legally able to drive a motor vehicle in Queensland.

This position requires immunisation against Hepatitis A/B and Tetanus.
