Job Description
A vacancy has arisen for an experienced health care assistant (HCA), to join the children and young people’s (CYP) outpatient team at UCLH. The successful candidate will form part of an enthusiastic multi-disciplinary team who can demonstrate the trust values to join our team. Our COPD delivers high quality clinical care to our patients from birth until 1+th their birthday. The department covers a wide range of medical and surgical specialties.
Previous experience of working with children and young people in a health care environment or related setting is desirable. The successful candidate will be provided with additional training to enhance delivery of clinical care to our children and young people.
The Role Of The HCA Includes
• Ensuring clinics run efficiently at all times
• Proficient in IT skills
• The needs of children/ young people and their parents/ carers are met
• Have a duty to recognise any safeguarding needs of our CYP and their families / carers
• Promote health and wellbeing for all CYP
• Provide day to day clinical assistance which will include phlebotomy, monitoring and reporting vital signs, conducting ECGs
• Act as a chaperone as required for clinicians.
• Assist senior nurses working full time in the department and the multidisciplinary team
• Be required to work flexibly in other clinical areas in the CYP division when required
You will need to be educated to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, have excellent communication skills and demonstrate a commitment to delivering excellent patient care. You will be required to complete the National Care Certificate in the first 3 months of employment.
