Job Description

We are looking for experienced health care assistants to join our Emergency Department in the role of Health Care Support Worker.

As part of a multidisciplinary team you will provide care to patients. You will support the registered nurses in the provision of direct patient care to a variety of patient groups, recording of observations, delivery of minors treatments, including wound care and plaster casting. extended clinical skills such as cannulation and catheterisation and housekeeping duties as required. Essential to the role is phlebotomy skills and the ability to undertake ECGs.

You must have good organisation skills and work well as part of a team. Previous health care experience is highly desirable for this role.

Additional training appropriate to the Emergency Department will be provided to successful candidates.

We have part time and full time positions available, working a 12.5 hour shift pattern over day and night shifts, including weekends and public holidays.

If successful in your application, you will be offered the opportunity to undertake an SVQ2 or SVQ3 (dependent on band) in Health and Social Care, approximately * months after taking up post. It is expected that you complete this qualification, which will be fully funded by NHS Fife. Your Line Manager will provide you with more information once you are in post.

As from 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
