Job Description
VM is looking for an experienced Heavy Diesel Field Service Technician to join our growing team. This role suits a motivated tradesperson with strong diagnostic ability who enjoys working independently in the field across a diverse fleet of heavy machinery.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for servicing, fault diagnostics, and mechanical repairs on heavy machinery throughout the Waikato and Auckland regions. This is a hands-on role offering variety, responsibility, and the opportunity to take the next step in your career with a well-established business.
About the Role
Field-based servicing, diagnostics, and repairs on heavy machinery
Preventative maintenance and breakdown response
Monday to Friday role, with Saturdays and after-hours work as required
Work across a well-maintained and diverse fleet
Strong support from an experienced operations team
Skills & Experience
3–4+ years’ experience as a Heavy Diesel Mechanic/Fitter
Proven experience with earthmoving or heavy machinery in New Zealand
Truck experience is an advantage
WTR endorsement preferred but not essential
Minimum Class 2 licence (or willingness to obtain)
Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
Computer literate
Reliable, honest, and self-motivated with excellent time management
Team player with a “take charge” attitude
